Beverley Literature Festival Creative Writing Weekend Masterclass : Poetry and Prose

Join us for an exclusive two-day creative writing masterclass, led by renowned writers and tutors Mavis Cheek and Colette Bryce. Explore writing themes from both a poetry and prose perspective to help you develop and improve your writing style through a mixture of taught classes and one-to-one tutoring. This accessible course is suitable for writers with some experience who wish to develop new skills and for those setting out on their writing journey who would like to explore different genres to help discover their voice.
Colette Bryce is an Irish poet currently based in the north east of England. Her most recent collection, The Whole &Rain-domed Universe (Picador), was shortlisted for the Forward, Costa and Roehampton poetry awards in 2014. A former editor of Poetry London magazine, Colette is also an experienced tutor for Arvon, The Poetry Society and Newcastle University.
Mavis Cheek is the author of 15 novels. Pause Between Acts won the She/John Menzies First Novel Prize in 1988 and her short stories are in various collections. Mavis has served on both PEN and The Society of Authors committees and was for three years the judge of the McKitterick Prize for Fiction. She is a Fellow of MacDowell Colony, USA and has been the Royal Literature Fund Fellow at both Chichester University and the University of Reading. She is a regular tutor for Arvon.
